• owned shares or money in joint names with another person who is still alive
• owned land or property with another person who is still alive
• only had savings of less than £20,000 in their sole name – you should contact the banks etc that the person who died had money in to find out if you’ll need probate to get access to their assets. Every organisation has its own rules.
